Purpose:
To provide education and training in specific work-related tasks and responsibilities to equip food handlers with skills and knowledge necessary to handle food safely and prevent foodborne illness.
Scope:
Practices and behaviors that are proven to be or are likely to be those of food service workers.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
- Identify terms and concepts associated with foodborne illness.
- Identify health and hygiene requirements.
- Identify time and temperature control requirements.
- Identify requirements for receiving food deliveries.
- Recognize food contamination prevention concepts.
- Recognize requirements for cleaning, sanitizing and chemical use.
Requisites to Earn the Certificate:
Have access to a computer and the internet and possess basic computer skills for navigating the website and training program. Participate in the self-paced learning event, going through all the program material and completing each lesson quiz. Verify achievement of the learning outcomes by obtaining a passing score of at least 70% on the final exam.
